Imagine a luxury detached country house in the most beautiful scenic location close to the shores of Bala Lake in Southern Snowdonia. This is Glynrhedyn. Set in its own 5 acres of river, woodlands and natural waterfalls, just minutes from the bustling market town of Bala, which is famous for sailing, fishing and watersports and the home of the National White Water Centre, Canolfan Tryweryn. Bala Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales with its delightful narrow-gauge steam railway which runs the length of the Lake. Take lunch at The Eagles, be a guest at the celebrated local male voice choir practice, Cor Godre'r Aran and hear just how well the Welshmen can sing!
The area is rich in wildlife with walks in all directions from the door of Glynrhedyn. Follow the mountain path from the private grounds of Glynrhedyn to the shore of the Lake, take lunch at the Bala Lake Hotel and a leisurely stroll home along the lanes.
The house is just made for sharing between 2 families or several couples. Spacious and comfortable with quality furnishings and tasteful, uncluttered decor. The master bedroom which is enormous with a king sized bed has views in 3 directions. A double room, a twin room and a single room as well as a supplementary guest bed allow comfortable sleeping for 8 guests, as well as a cot and highchair for baby visitors.
A huge country dining table in an open-plan kitchen with views from every window, and there are so many! An open fireplace in the cosy sitting room for warm winter evenings together. The conservatory overlooking the terrace and timber decked balcony has breathtaking views of the river and woodlands which surround the house. The two waterfalls are a magical place to take morning coffee or a picnic in the garden. Red kites, badgers, foxes, squirrels and even sheep are regular visitors to the gardens. The tree-house in the gardens will delight young adveture seekers.
30 minutes drive away is Coed y Brenin, the Mecca of mountain-biking. Try the challenging Karrimore or Red Bull Trails, or take the less stressful woodland trails for dabblers. Visit Lake Vyrnwy and the RSPB Centre and hides, or head for where Snowdonias mountains meet the coast at Barmouth and explore Shell Island, Portmadog and Portmeirion.
We offer some delightful pampering services at Glynrhedyn, aromatherapy massage at your own fireside, breakfast and barbecue hamper delivery, holiday gift vouchers, babysitting service and much more information on our website. For romantics, activity-seekers and lovers of the countryside, Glynrhedyn is a real country hideaway, just 1 hour from Chester.
