Portmeirion's newest venture is a contemporary styled hotel, Castell Deudraeth, with 11 rooms, two dining areas, meeting rooms and a walled garden. Clough Williams-Ellis bought the building in 1931 but never achieved his goal of making it part of Portmeirion village. This has now been achieved.Rooms within the Castell are furnished with King or Queen size beds, whirlpool baths, real flame gas fires, oak floors with underfloor heating and wide screen TVs with integral DVDs. The interiors fuse traditional Welsh materials such as slate and oak with cutting edge design featuring unusual finishes such as burnt and fumed oak and acid patinated zinc, contributing to a simple yet high quality finish.The hotel is classy, modern, restrained and quite unlike anything this part of North Wales... has ever seen. - The ObserverAlthough Castell Deudraeth's exterior is in the crenellated Victorian style popular in the mid-19th century, the interior decor is very 21st century, with clean lines and neutral colours, and use of Welsh oak and slate. - The TimesLady's Lodge Beaty Parlour offers a range of beauty treatments and hairdressing. Treatment in your room can also be provided. Portmeirion has an open air swimming pool, a tennis court and facilities for guests to play golf at Morfa Bychan (3 miles away). Surrounding the village are 70 acres of sub-tropical woodlands criss-crossed by miles of paths which can be followed in conjunction with the free map and guide available in your room.
