Castellmarch, a traditional family run beef and sheep farm, lies one mile from the village of Abersoch and 10 mins walk from the nearest sandy beach. We have 4 self catering cottages on the farm grounds which are open all year. Castellmarch, according to a legend lost in the midst of time, was the home of fabled March ap Meirchion - a prince with horses' ears. In 1180 Meirioln Goch a Chieftan of Edeyrnion infamous for his treachery in delivering Prince Griffith ap Cynan to the English lived here. The present house (probably unfinished) was built in 1628 by Sir William Jones, MP for Beaumaris and Caernarfon and Chief Justice of Ireland - many tales have been passed on over the centuries about his connection with smugglers in the bay.
