The magnificent building of Hafton Castle is located in Hunter’s Quay, just outside Dunoon with views spreading across Holy Loch. The Castle has its own delightful gardens and a large heated indoor swimming pool. (Please note there is an additional charge of £500 per week for the heating and use of the pool).
Hafton Castle is superb house with the wonderful indoor pool, and numerous spacious public rooms. There is a large reception hall, dining room, large drawing room with bar area which opens into a small drawing room, library, billiard room and a toy room. A spacious conservatory and plenty of outdoor space with a terrace and gardens, plenty of space for the large number of people it sleeps. The splendid reception hall has numerous seats, wood-burner and a grand piano and would be the perfect place for a wedding ceremony. The nineteen bedrooms are comfortable and all have en-suite showers.
The Castle was built by James Hunter, with the architect David Hamilton who also designed Dunoon Castle. The building has some magnificent features, carved doors, beautiful ceilings and a superb staircase.
The large drawing room with bar area opens into the small drawing room to make one very large room which is perfect for Wedding Receptions, parties or any other gathering. Music can be arranged for any evening of your stay, classical, traditional scottish music or a ceilidh.
Outside in the grounds are old trees, lawns and beautiful views across the Loch. The Castle can be reached from Glasgow Airport in 45 minutes by car and guests that arrive via the ferry which departs from Gourock and crosses the Firth of Clyde, a very romantic and atmospheric start to their stay at Hafton. The local activities can include, golf, swimming, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, sailing, and quad biking to name but a few. Dunoon itself is the home of the Cowal Highland Gathering and has a castle and museum. Day trips can be taken to the Benmore Botanical Gardens, Bute and Wemyss Bay.
