Scoor House is a hundred year old, former farmhouse nestled in a peaceful, remote location on the southern coast of the Ross of Mull. Surrounded by grazing land, within easy walking distance of several sandy beaches, Scoor offers an exceptional self-catering experience for those who are seeking a memorable holiday in comfortable surroundings. Visitors are delighted to find the rugged, natural beauty of Mull right on their doorstep.
The two-storey, main farmhouse has been restored and converted to provide four, fully-equipped, self-catering apartments, which are ideal for individuals, large families, organisations or special interest groups. For those who really want to get away from it all, there are also two spacious cottages set in their own gardens. All the properties have stunning sea views across the fields towards the isles of the Hebrides and there is also a walled, grassy area which is ideal for barbecues, playing games and picnics.
Scoor is open to guests all year round and whether you come in summer or winter there is always plenty to do. As well as various marked walks to secluded beaches, woods and the deserted village of Shiaba (a Scheduled Ancient and Historic Monument), there are also spectacular rock formations close by to clamber over and explore. The area abounds with wildlife and visitors often report regular sightings of deer, otters and birds of prey, including Golden Eagles - one guest even spotted a whale through binoculars from his living room! Fishing permits are available for Loch Assapol, a short walk away, where you can catch trout and salmon.
The closest village to Scoor is Bunessan, approximately 3 miles away. It has two well-stocked grocery stores, a post office, gift shop, popular pub, recommended restaurant, doctor's surgery and community hall (where travelling theatre shows etc are often staged). A little further along the road you will reach the village of Fionnphort with its cosy pub, village store and visitor centre. Here you can catch the ferry (year round) to the historical and famous island of Iona. Further afield it is possible to visit Ulva, Treshnish and Staffa, Duart and Torosay castles, Tobermory and Dervaig. There are so many wonderful walks and wild places to visit all over the island, which can be comfortably circumnavigated in a day.
The pace of life on Mull is relaxed and stress-free with a genuine, friendly welcome from the local community. So if you, or your group, are seeking good quality, reasonably priced accommodation with a five star experience of the great outdoors, we look forward to welcoming you soon to Scoor!
Guests return year after year to this magical place. Here's what some of them have recently written in our guest book:

Educational organisations and Special Interest Groups:
Scoor is ideal for large groups, as the six properties can comfortably accommodate up to 35 people in total. The House is particularly popular with students and family reunion groups who enjoy the feeling of being all together, as well the convenience of having their own facilities and privacy.
We are happy to discuss your requirements and can offer special group rates and extra facilities such as catering, housekeeping and laundry.
Disabled Facilities:
Three of the properties have ground floor access and no stairs and may be suitable for those with some disability. Please contact us to discuss your requirements
Green Initiatives:
Scoor has its own water supply (regularly inspected and approved by the Scottish Water Board) and a septic tank system for waste. Because of these facilities we try to use ecologically friendly products wherever possible, and so all cleaning products from the Ecover range are provided free of charge for guests. All properties in Scoor House have double glazed windows for your added comfort. We also actively encourage recycling of cans, glass and paper and provide bins on site for guests to use if they wish.
Pets:
Well behaved dogs are always welcome at Scoor (except in Shepherd's Cottage which is pet-free). We are located on a working farm so your consideration of the farm animals is appreciated.
Smoking:
Smoking is permitted but we respectfully ask guests to smoke outside wherever possible. Laggan and Shepherd's Cottage are definitely non-smoking.
