Situated half way up Whalefirth Voe, this large family former crofthouse is the perfect spot to get away from it all. It is easy to lose yourself in "da Herra," a magical place where ancient legends of giants and trolls abound. The air is clean and summer days are long. A feeling of age, peace and endurance is ever present in this beautiful valley. Gremister can be found near the end of the Herra road. It cannot be missed due to its commanding location looking out over this very long and picturesque voe. The secluded location belies the fact that the Herra is probably the most convenient location for visitors to the island of Yell, being situated in the middle of the isle. It is a short distance from the main village - leisure centre, swimming pool, shop and post office, as well as the local pub - approximately 8 minutes drive. There is a veritable host of things to do right on your doorstep, however, and you can fill your days without ever stepping in your car, should you wish to. There is fishing galore, with sea-trout runs and lochs within easy walking distance. Wildlife is in abundance, with otters, seals and many bird species. You can choose from many beautiful walks, ranging from very easy (there's a quiet beach just below the house) to quite challenging, but always in picturesque settings. If you're lucky, you may see porpoises, or even whales - look out for them on the ferry crossing. Whatever you do, you'll be assured of a clean, warm welcoming retreat when you return. Sleeping 6, the accommodation, which has been newly refurbished and equipped to a very high standard, comprises: Modern fitted kitchen - dishwasher, gas hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine, many electrical conveniences, recipe books, etc. etc. Large dining room with table and chairs overlooking the beach.
