There are two completely self-contained apartments on the top floor of the manse, which was built in 1803.
Completely private on the third floor of the 18th. century Manse the apartments, are equipped to a high standard, each have a separate kitchen, sitting room, double bedroom and bathroom (incl. shower). The bedrooms have a double bed and a single bed and there is a sofabed in each sitting room. Combined with the absence of all but natural sounds, the views from every window on the top floor of East Mainland's highest building are of land, sea and skyscapes unique in the United Kingdom, unique in Orkney.
Close to a quiet shore and a summertime seal colony, the Old St Nicholas Manse sits with no near neighbours in its own walled gardens. Breathtaking views are in every direction, of Holm Sound and the Southern Isles, of the Churchill Barriers, of Scapa Flow and Hoy to the North.

The deserted shore is 150m walk with coastal walks and sea caves. Bird and wildlife are abundant. Orkney's capital city, Kirkwall, is fifteen minutes away; all of the islands major neolithic sites are within forty minutes drive as are the inter-island ferry ports; visitors return year after year relishing the space and tranquility which this unique setting affords.
The apartments are spacious and appointed to two-star standard, the grounds and sheltered one-acre walled garden, dense with native trees and hedgerows are available to guests for relaxing, strolling, birdwatching or just listening to the sounds of the seals on the shore. Off the tourist routes, yet close to everything, East Holm is Orkney's secret garden, its rolling fields and gentle shores a delight to those who find them undisturbed.
The big house on the bay is a place of wonder.
