Click here to see a list of things you may want to bring with you to Dry Island. This one is unique as it is constructed entirely out of recycled plastic to HSE Standard. All vehicles are left in a private car park on the mainland and there is a shed for storage of bikes, canoes etc. As it is a five-minute walk via a path (sometimes quite rough) and a bridge from the car park, visitors should be equipped with stout footwear and Dry Island, therefore, is not really suitable for those with walking difficulties. Luggage is collected from Badachro Pier and taken by boat to Dry Island (tide dependent for timings.) Your HostsIan McWhinney was born and bred in the area. Ian is a fisherman whose family has fished for over 200 years from Dry Island. Ian's partner Jess will give you a warm welcome, and is a good cook. Hear about the island's history. There is no better setting for those who crave a relaxing holiday amind the natural splendour of the Highlands of Scotland. The coastline has clean sandy beaches only five minutes drive from Dry Island. Badachro Bay - Peace and TranquilityThe area is a perfect location for bird watching, loch and sea fishing and hill walking. During the winter you can view the northern lights from the island, or you can go beachcombing all year round. If you fancy messing about on the water we have a complimentary rowing boat available. (Lifejackets are compulsory and provided, and an insurance waiver needs to be signed.) Swimming and snorkelling are also available off the island's own pier. Fishing and Local Activities
Take a FREE boat trip from the island on a traditional wooden fishing boat. Local fishing advice can be given. Take a fishing trip - and haul a creel, or perhaps catch some seasonal mackerel. You can take home some COMPLIMENTARY shellfish to cook for your tea, with cooking advice from your skipper, a fisherman from generations of fisher people. Would you like a round of golf, to go pony trekking, sea kayaking, clay pigeon shooting or spend some time learning about falconry? All these activities are within a few miles of Dry Island and can be arranged for you. Rates for these activites are available on request. If it's raining - no problem - we can supply waterproofs, brollies and wellies if you need them. We can also tell you about a wide variety of local indoor activities that are on offer.
