    A Highland experience awaits you at our thoughtfully renovated cottages in quiet, picturesque surroundings on the outskirts of Newtonmore in the heart of the CAIRNGORM NATIONAL PARK and ‘MONARCH of the GLEN COUNTRY’. The cottages are just outside Newtonmore and are surrounded by panoramic views.  Newtonmore has shops, pubs, restaurants, museums, golf course, tennis, bowling and Waltzing Waters. We are central for touring to Loch Ness, Landmark Discovery Centre, The Distilleries and Castles and many tourist attractions. 

The cottages [renovated in 2000] and the area provide great holidays for families, walkers, car tourers, wild life watchers, skiers etc. Croft Holiday Cottages sleep up to 4 or 10 in total. The tariff includes central heating, bed linen and off road parking. Well behaved pets are welcome with a maximum of two per cottage. Loft and Barn Cottages are for non-smokers. Short breaks or long stays available. Newtonmore is a mile from the main road north – the A9 and guests arrive by car, train, bus with many flying into Inverness, Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Our area is recognized internationally for its beautiful scenery, wild life, birds and historical importance and has thus been included in one of only two National Parks in Scotland.   It is a great area for: walking (guided walk included) – low level and plateau and climbing, particularly winter climbing; for bird watching there are three RSPB Reserves nearby – Insh Marshes, Loch Garten and Abernethy Forest and we have some of the rarest birds in Britain; for cycling there is Sustrans route 7, many forest trails and the new Wolftrax offroad trails nearby at Laggan; for riders there are several pony trekking centres and riding centres locally.  There are two water sports centres and plenty of river canoeing nearby and skiers can choose from three centres or a variety of off piste skiing.  Golfers can enjoy the scenery and reasonably priced golf on six excellent local courses. Newtonmore golf week – 1st week of August – is very popular and Newtonmore also hosts the Scottish left-handers championships earlier in the year. There is so much to do in the area that many of our guests find a week is not long enough and return regularly each year. For families there are great days out at Landmark; the Highland Wildlife Park; The Fun House at Coylumbridge; The Strathspey Railway [with Thomas Tank Engine days]; the new leisure pool and flumes at the Aviemore Centre; the new Community Centre in Kingussie for indoor sports and a trip to the hilltops in the new Funicular train at Cairngorm or the Gondola at Nevis Range.  For those interested in the history of the Highlands there are three excellent museums with the Newtonmore Folk Park being an all day, hands on experience for all.  There are many archaeological remains to be seen and your host, Mary Mackenzie, is particularly interested in local genealogy and can offer help with your family history and local history. 

Barn Cottage - Loft Cottage - Stable Cottage

All Croft Holiday Cottages have a multi-purpose main room with TV, microwave, cooker, fridge, settee and table and chairs. In the main room in Stable Cottage there is convertible seating which sleeps two.

Each cottage has a bedroom - in Barn Cottage it has 2'6" twin beds which can be linked and zipped together into a 5' double bed. In Loft Cottage the bedroom is upstairs and it has 2'6" twin beds which can be linked and zipped together into a 5' double bed and a 3' single bed. Stable Cottage has 3' bunk beds in the bedroom.

Each cottage has shower room with power shower, WC and wash basin. The layout of these cottages has been designed to offer families and groups flexibility should they wish to stay together at one location. Barn and Loft Cottages have an internal door which can be unlocked to provides accommodation for a group of up to six. Electricity is included in the rental. Bed linen is supplied but not towels or cot linen A cot is available for infants. Stable Cottage has a gentle ramp to the door, wider doors and a shower room suitable for wheelchair users.

There is a laundry area, including washing machine and drying room, for use by guests at Steading Cottages. There is plenty of parking space in the grounds. For picnics or playing there is a large grassy area with views south over the valley of the Spey to the Grampian Mountains.
