You can walk from the city centre along the picturesque river and it feels as though you are right in the middle of the countryside.  It will only take a ten minute drive to reach the north end of Loch Ness.  However, to experience the beauty, drama and history of Loch Ness and to explore the mystery of its monster you are advised to take your time and drive round the length of the loch and stop at the many interesting places.  An alternative is to take the boat from Inverness and to enjoy the cruise on Loch Ness.
