Douglas Cottage is a two storey house, completed in 1978, standing in its own site at the head of Loch Gairloch. The property is approximately 1/2 acre in extent mainly grassed allowing a play area for children. The site enjoys uninterupted views over the loch and the Minch, to the North end of Skye. The viw extends to the South over the loch end to the Torridon Mountains. This whole view can be enjoyed from the living room, which has two glass walls facing South and West.. The village of Strtah lies approximately 1/2 mile from the cottage, where there are hotels, shops, the local museum, doctor's surgery and local school/community centre all within 1/4 miles from property. The house, on two levels, provide the following accommodation. Ground level - entrance hall, lavatory, wet gear store, additional storage and workshop (the workshop is not available to rentals) and stairway. First floor - study, kitchen, dining and living room in open plan. Two double and two twin bedded bedrooms, bathroom, seperate shower and sauna and bathroom, utility room with acess to drying green. The house is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and seperate deep freeze. Linen and electricity are provided within the letting charge, except for sauna and tumble dryer which are operated by a coin operated metre. The living room has a free standing mukti fuel fire. Gairloch offers sea and loch fishing, boat trips, seal watching, hill walking, golf, pony trekking and quad biking. There is a modern community swiming pool 6 miles away at poolewe, and there are many community facilities available throught out the year. Douglas Cottage stands near to the centre of an area of outstanding beauty with great opportunities to tour, visit the world famous Inverewe Gardens and the Isle of Skye. The cottage offers spacious accommodation allowing for indoor wet weather activities. Enjoy wonderful sunsets or a roaring sea, all in comfort.
