Burnside House and Knockan Crag Cottage are situated in the picturesque crofting hamlet of Elphin with stunning views of Suilven, Cul Mor and surrounding mountains. They are 1 mile north of National Nature Reserve 'Knockan Crag' with its popular visitor centre. It is a superb position for bird watching - golden eagles often sited. A great base for mountain walks, wildlife trails or simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. There is a safe secluded white sandy beach only 1/2 hour away. They overlook Inverpolly National Nature Reserve, 40 square miles of remote wilderness in a spectacular setting. Flora and fauna include red deer and pine martins, wildcats, orchids and carniverous plants. The area is surrounded by an abundance of great fishing lochs for salmon and brown trout. Permits available. Run by a friendly young couple who can offer advice on walking, gardens and places of interest. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. Dogs are welcome. Fresh eggs available from chickens and ducks. Walkers and cyclists welcome. There is ample on site secure parking.
