Once a pair of traditional Estate workers' cottages, this house has been completely renovated, restored and converted in to the main Farmhouse to Polmaily. It is a substantial house and having been refurbished is now able to boast the benefits of modern comfort but with the retention of many unique features that create atmosphere and character, such as the original Caithness slate flooring, stripped latch doors and beamed ceilings. The addition of the oil fed Rayburn and wood burning stove enhances it appeal and warmth.
Although part of a sheltered courtyard environment it still retains its own private secluded garden to its southerly aspect from which views of woodland and often grazed pastured fields can be seen. The garden plays host to a variety of birds and small mammals. Regular visitors to the stocked nut and bird seed feeders include red squirrel, lesser spotted woodpeckers, different species of the the Tit family, Gold Finches etc., as well as others such as wood mice, voles hedgehogs and the occasional Pine Marten.
Views from the large dormer windows in the double bedrooms are a delight to awaken to, overlooking the steading rooftops into the rising birch woodland on the hillside. Seasonal changes transform the woodland from the snow-encrusted bark and lichen to a fresh green leafy canopy carpeted with primroses and wood anemones through to the Autumnal hues.
Heating is by wood burning-stove, and central heating (+ hot water) from a separate boiler within the new oil-fired Rayburn. Electricity, oil and bed linen are included. We regret no pets are allowed. A refundable householders deposit is also required.
