Kerrowdown Mill enjoys a wonderful elevated south-facing position, amidst some of Scotland's loveliest scenery. Ideally situated, the cottages make an excellent base for touring the North/ East and the West Highlands of Scotland. A peaceful and relaxing stay for time to unwind and feel the historic spirit of Scotland. Drumnadrochit, is half a mile away, has shops, restaurants, bars and Loch Ness Monster exhibitions.
There are a host of things to see and do in the immediate area: walking, fishing, bird watching, horse riding, boat trips on Loch Ness and of course looking for the Loch Ness monster. We are situated on the Great Glen Way. 2 miles away are the ruins of the magnificently situated Urquhart castle, which guards the southern entrance to the bay. Inverness is the capital of the Highlands, you travel 14 miles northeast along the shores of Loch Ness to this historic city. East of Inverness lies the sheltered coastal strip of the Moray Firth, with its many historic sites and castles. The Moray Firth is only one of three areas in the UK that supports a resident population of dolphins. There are over a hundred bottle nosed dolphins and there is an excellent chance of spotting them from either the shore or a boat.
Fort William is an hour away and is set on the stunning Loch Linnhe with the snow-streaked bulk of Ben Nevis rising behind, it is known to the many walkers and climbers that visit as 'Fort Bill'. Guided walks can be taken up Ben Nevis, but for the less energetic an alternative walk can be taken to the top of the glen, which leads through a dramatic gorge with impressive falls and rapids and then opens out into a delightful valley, carpeted with wild flowers and an impressive waterfall at the far end. one of the many wonders of Scotland.
From Kerrowdown Mill you can take the A82 joining the A87 to the Western Highlands only an hour away to visit the magnificent Five Sisters of Kintail Mountain Range, set in Glenshiel called the Peaceful Valley, overlooking Loch Duich. Where the golden eagles, wild otters, porpoise and minky whales hide out. Scotland's most secret hide away. Follow down loch Duich to the famous Eilean Donan Castle, which they say is the most photographed castle in the world, overlooking the Isle of Skye. Come and Visit us in Bonnie Scotland.
