Situated on extensive private estate within the Cairngorms National Park, four miles from Aviemore and nine miles from Grantown-on-Spey. Totally secluded with spectacular views. The Grant family, now Ogilvie-Grant and Earls of Seafield, acquired most of their land between 1350-1550. They remain the second largest landowners in Scotland. The family led the force which routed the Covenantors at the Battle of Haughs at Cromdale in 1690; indeed, many of their efforts as a clan were involved in keeping the peace between the wild Highlands and the rich Lowlands of Moray. Glencarnie was designed by a neighbouring landowning architect and friend, the Earl of Cawdor, for a son of the present Earl of Seafield. Glencarnie is a very stylish, modern, warm, extremely comfortable timber house within the Cairngorms National Park, with glorious south-facing views across the Strath to the Cairngorm Mountains. Ground floor has an entrance hall, small sitting room with TV/video/DVD, large double height living room with open fireplace (logs supplied), doors to veranda, dining area. Laundry/drying room with washing machine, larder with deep freeze and cloakroom with WC/WB. There is a large fully equipped modern kitchen with 4 oven oil fired Aga, dishwasher and microwave and seating for 10 people. On the first floor there is one double/twin with en suite bathroom, a four poster double and a twin bedroom and two more bathrooms. For a supplement for two extra people, there is a further bedroom with two single beds. Outside, there is a small rough garden with open access to woodland and tracks beyond, barbeque and modern kennel and pen. Please note the ¾ mile long approach track to the house is used by forestry vehicles and is very rough and uneven. The use of a 4x4 vehicle is strongly recommended at all times of year.
