Bridge Park Cottage which is situated in Glen Lochay, just half a mile outside the village of Killin in Perthshire, Scotland, and so is in easy reach of the local shops and amenities.
It stands in the middle of a large sunny garden laid mainly to lawn and well stocked with shrubs and trees. There are glorious uninterrupted views up the glen from the garden with the river Lochay 50 yds. away across a meadow and makes ideal accommodation for holidays in Scotland.
The garden offers complete seclusion and tranquillity; often the loudest noise you will hear for days on end will be the sheep in the meadow and the odd estate Land Rover driving up the glen. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. For pictures go to www.bridgeparkcottage.co.uk
Bridge Park Cottage is situated close to the River Lochay whose crystal waters, together with those of the Dochart, feeds Loch Tay half a mile away. The village of Killin is just under a mile from Bridge Park Cottage and is at the western edge of Stirling’ boarder with Perthshire in an area known as the Trossachs.
The bustling village of Killin is not far away and yet the road up Glen Lochay is little used and offers 6 miles of easy walking. Near the top of the glen there is a road over to the adjacent Glen Lyon with its spectacular Loch Lyon Reservoir. Loch Tay is a short walk in the other direction with a full range of water sports. There is also a charming 9-hole golf course.
Outside: There is garden furniture and a barbecue. Please keep the gate closed at all times to keep deer and sheep out. We provide tea and coffee to welcome you on arrival.
The village of Killin maintains an air of charm and tranquillity. It has a delightful main street with a good selection of shops and places of interest. Details of all the various local activities can be obtained from the Scottish Tourist Board’s visitors centre.
Dr McCulloch, a respected authority on Highland Scenery described Killin as “the most extraordinary collection of extraordinary scenery in the county and a perfect picture gallery in itself”.
Situated so close to Loch Tay makes Bridge Park Cottage an unrivalled haven for sports. A quiet day sailing on the calm water of the loch, a round of golf, horse riding through the forests and glens, clay shooting, scuba diving, hill walking, bicycling or fishing (Permits provided—see below) all are available. Ben Layers, the highest mountain in Perthshire, towers above Loch Tay and is now protected by the National Trust of Scotland. Botanists come to see and study the alpine flora in these mountains. You can either go and wander by yourselves or try one of the many guided walks, such as the Strathbraan Treks, where a professional guide will provide all the experience and knowledge to help you discover some of Scotland’s many hidden natural treasures.
Just across the Glen is the Moirlanich Longhouse one of the last 19th century byres restored by the National Trust.
We are now able to provide our guests with two Trout and Course fishing permits and car park display cards, issued by the Killin & Breadalbane Angling Club (founded 1881), for the whole of the 2008 season as part of your holiday in Bridge Park Cottage.
