Activities:

The Farm

The 710 acre Farm is a traditional mixed arable and stock farm which, during different seasons, has cattle, sheep, and horses grazing in the grass fields.  We make our own hay and silage for the stock in the Winter.  We harvest barley for the Scotch Whisky industry.

Walks, Picnics, Bird Watching and Photography

There are over 5 miles of different walks on the farm with pretty picnic spots to be found.  In our 40 acres of Cross Country wooded parkland there are deer, pheasants and usually a pair of herons.  One keen guest got up at 5.00 am to study the bird life and logged 28 different species in 3 hours.  In the same area there are over 120 cross country jumping options where we train our horses.  We can help you find 100 other walks in the hills or by river banks within 30 minutes drive.

Visit our Historic Attractions, Distilleries & Gardens

We are within 30 minutes to 1 hour's drive from a host of most interesting places to visit.  Stirling and Edinburgh Castles, Glamis Castle where the late Queen Mother was born.  Scone Palace is 15 minutes away.  The award winning "Famous Grouse Experience" at Glenturret Distillery is 20 minutes away.  Further afield is Oban, Glencoe, Loch Ness, Aviemore and much more!  Please now go to our Links page for lots more detailed information on Perthshire Scotland - Methven, Crieff & Perth also Strathearn Local Directory.  For "What's on" see the link Rampant Scotland.

Sports

There are over 60 golf courses within 1 hr's drive.  New fisheries have been created plus Loch and river fishing abounds.  Cycling is easy from your cottage.  There are lots of peaceful country lanes to explore, whether it's short or long cycle rides there is plenty of scope and variety.  Perth has a modern and large leisure swimming pool also an ice rink.  One of the most popular pastimes is hillwalking - the opportunities are limitless.

For all other information and questions please contact either Howard or Hazel England.

Equestrian Facilities and Stabling

Our holiday accommodation is the perfect location for riders. Our extensive facilities include stabling, a 40 sqr.m. Passada all weather riding school, show jump and a cross country course. Your own horses are also welcome to join you on holiday. Sarah Houlden (nee England) is the resident full time instructor, she has represented Great Britain 5 times as a member of the Pony, Junior and rural riders 3 day event teams, having competed throughout Europe.  Based at Hilton House she runs Strathearn Eventing Ltd, with her mother Hazel England, and has a very busy life teaching, competing and managing our small stud.  However, it must be emphasised we are NOT a riding school and we do not hire out horses or ponies but do bring your own horse on holiday with you.
