This beautiful (awarded 4 Stars by Visit Scotland) 3-storey, 4 bedroomed seafront villa boasts many original features including exposed beams and an old ship's mast within the staircase. It is superbly located only a few feet from the sandy beach in the charming Scottish fishing village of Anstruther. The town is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum and from the harbour boat trips are available for sea angling or sightseeing to visit local areas of interest such as the Isle of May, a famous nature reserve. Also renowned in the locality are numerous walks, gardens and castles as well as a number of award winning beaches. Most windows in the property enjoy fabulous views over Anstruther Harbour, the Forth estuary, Bass Rock and North Berwick Law. It is conveniently located for all amenities including a wide range of shops, pubs, restaurants. The Cellar is an excellent seafood restaurant and the famous Anstruther Fish bar was a must for Tom Hanks! The ground floor of this traditional property offers 1 twin room, 1 room with bunkbeds and a toilet and washbasin. The first floor consists of an open plan kitchen equipped with fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven (a second fridge freezer is located in the hall cupboard) and a large oak dinning table. There is an archway leading through to the lounge which has an open fire and tv/dvd/cd. There is also a family bathroom on this floor recently refurbished with heated towel rails, underfloor heating, roll top bath and separate shower. The second floor has two bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and new en suite shower room. The second bedroom has 2 double beds and a tv/video. St Andrews Old Course is just 10 minutes away and other fine courses such as The New Course, St Andrews Bay, The Dukes, The Jubilee, Elie, Balbirnie, Ladybank and Lundin Links are all within easy commuting distance with the magnificent Kingsbarns only five minutes drive. Slightly further afield but still within easy reach are the superb courses of Carnoustie, Gleneagles, North Berwick and Muirfield. Skipper's Rest is traditionally furnished and has high quality linen, bed quilts and new kitchen equipment. We have made an effort to make this property as homely as possible and have left a supply of books, games, videos, and dvds for you to use during your stay. Skipper's Rest dates back to 1650 and is steeped in history. It was the well known Skipper James Small's residence whose grandson John Ballantyne, born in this house, went on later to join the Royal navy and served with distinction in the French war at the capture of Port Rico in 1797. More recently the author Isla Dewar lived here while writing novels such as "Women Talking Dirty" which was later made into a film, set in Edinburgh starring Helena Bonham-Carter.
