All rooms in the house have the original column radiators ( which give much better heat output than modern radiators )

Master bedroom with direct view out over the rocky shore and breaking waves to the Isle of May and North Sea.

The large rooflight dates from the room’s previous use as an artist’s studio during ownership of the house by the Lorimer family of sculptors and architects. It has a remote-operated roller blind.

The room also has a 17th century fireplace with original delft tiles;  furnishings include a Georgian dressing table  


Gyles House directly fronts Pittenweem's  fishing harbour, and  the rear of the house faces directly out to sea - the Firth of Forth and Isle of May.  At high tide, the sea laps against the rear garden wall. Gyles House dates from 1626  (one of its early owners was the mariner who transported King Charles II into exile after the Battle of Shrewsbury  ). The  house  was restored by the National Trust for Scotland under its Sma' Houses scheme for rescue of significant examples of early scottish vernacular buildings, and is Grade A listed for its architectural importance.  Gyles House's historic features include stone spiral staircase, original fireplaces and timber wall paneling.

Gyles House has 4 bedrooms and  3 reception rooms, and  offers spacious  accommodation for up to 7 people. Available for holiday letting on a weekly basis and  for midweek/weekend breaks ( normally low season only, but may be available for late lets in summer ). Furnished to a high standard. The Fife Coastal Footpath runs directly past Gyles House, providing attractive walks to the  villages of St Monans,  Elie, Anstruther and Crail, with sandy coves en route. The historic university and golf city of St Andrews is 9 miles and 25 minutes drive away. Edinburgh is 70 minutes drive. Within walking distance there are two Good Food Guide ** and *** restaurants and others within an easy drive, a total of 16 golf courses, historic houses and gardens, watersports, equestrian centre.
