Steading 1, a one bedroomed flat converted from the stables and hay loft, overlooking the old farm courtyard and fields. Steading 1 has a double bedroom with bath and shower and as it is all on the ground floor would suit someone with mobility difficulties. The property has futons and I can put up a Z bed to sleep 4/5". Steading 1 has parking and an enclosed garden. It is new and well insulated and makes a good all year round let. Steading 1 is all on the ground floor with parking in front of the small garden. The property is comfortable and I like to provide a warm friendly service! In the farm courtyard there is a games room and we also have a tennis court in the garden. Short walk along single track road to the village shop and pub/restaurant or along the river Urr and visit the Motte of Urr an ancient iron age fort site. If you bring cycles we are just off the Sustrans route (1 mile), we are also only 4 miles from Dalbeattie forest for cycling and walking. A few miles from the beach and sailing at Kippford which is one of the National Scenic Areas. The Cottages All accommodation has TV (the Steading has video and videos), washing machine, (a dryer in the garage), microwave, duvets,pillows,bed linen and towels (available on request), garden furniture, parking and garden with washing line. Extra beds,cots and high chairs can be provided if requested. Heating/cooking is electric. In the Steading there is a gas hob. Central heating is in the form of electric storage heaters/convectors. There are also books, games and puzzles for wet weather! Location Redcastle dates back to 1486. The farmhouse is situated in the Urr Valley, ten minutes walk from the River Urr and has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Walk one and a half miles along a single track road past Urr Church to the village where there is an excellent shop/Post Office and inn 'The Laurie Arms', which in winter has a roaring fire and in warmer weather tables outside. Redcastle is six miles from the thriving market town of Castle Douglas where there is a Tourist Information Centre, theatre, town loch and a variety of individual shops. Three miles in the opposite direction you come to Dalbeattie with its lovely park, trampolines and small pond with pedaloes. Dalbeattie is on the edge of the forest with numerous walks and cycle tracks. Dumfries is the nearest large town situated on the River Nith, about 16 miles away. We are two miles south of the A75 which links to Carlisle…M6…and the ferry terminal at Stranraer. Glasgow and Edinburgh are 98 miles away.
