You're always welcome at Hendersyde, our family farm, which lies between the River Tweed, famous for salmon fishing, and The Eden Water, a haven for wildlife and birds. West cottage has a traditional layout with the kitchen, sitting room and bath room are all downstairs. Upstairs the spacious twin and double bed room, with their original, though now redundant fireplaces, they have wonderful views to the Eildon Hills by Melrose, as well as to The Cheviot Hills in Northumberland! Warm and comfy, the sitting room has an open fire, colour TV, DVD, hi-fi, loads of books, games, maps and local information! The oil fired central heating keeps the cottage cosy throughout the year - what ever the weather! The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, shared tumble drier, radio/cd/cassette player and many other extras which you might not expect! West cottage has fitted carpets and an integral bath/shower tap, which rests in a cradle above the taps. Just 2 miles from Kelso, the cottage is in an excellent position to explore both sides of the border. Kelso, one of Scotland's most attractive towns, stands at the junction of The River Tweed and Teviot Water. Its cobbled square is surrounded by local shops, places to eat and delightful walks. There's always a lot going on with events at Springwood Park such as: the Championship Dog Show, Border Union Agricultural Show and Kelso Tup Sales, attractions at Floors Castle, National Hunt Racing, Kelso Civic Week and musical gatherings. Nearby golf courses abound! The Roxburghe Championship Course, Kelso Golf Course (and Race Course are at the end of the farm road!) and the Hirsel Course and Country Park are 8 miles away, at Coldstream. Whether you would like to walk or ride this land of rivers and hills; stroll through gardens such as Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, or Kailzie by Peebles, where Osprey are shown live on web-cam; feel the history of castles, abbeys and great houses: have a day in Edinburgh, cycle quiet roads or hurtle down the mountain bike runs at Glentress, you'll certainly feel the glow! From the stunning coast, St Abbs Head, Lindisfarne, The Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle, to the Border Hills, the space, light and views will take your breath away! On a creative note - many talented "craftsmen" working with cashmere, wool, wood, glass, clay, metal, pencil and paint have found inspiration here. Over 80 local craft workshops, galleries and exhibitions welcome you. Then you can return to the warmth and comfort of Hendersyde, a genuine home from home!
