You're always welcome at Hendersyde, our family farm, which lies between the River Tweed, famous for salmon fishing, and The Eden Water, both a haven for wildlife and birds. Our three traditional farm cottages stand in a peaceful spot at the end of their own lane, in the middle of the farm, where wonderful views stretch over the Scottish Borders countryside, to the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. Just over 2 miles from Kelso, the cottages are in an excellent position to explore both sides of the Border Country, the Borders bold history and small local towns. Kelso, has to be one of Scotland's most attractive market towns, standing at the junction of The River Tweed and Teviot Water. Its cobbled square is surrounded by local shops, places to eat and delightful walks. There's always a lot going on in and around the town, with events at The Border Union Show Ground - Championship Dog Shows, Agricultural Shows and the huge Kelso Tup Sales, the biggest sale of male sheep in the country!! Floors Castle hosts gardening events, horse trials and the stirring sound of Massed Pipe competition! National Hunt Racing, curling competitions, the local common riding in Kelso Civic Week and musical gatherings. Nearby golf courses abound! The Roxburghe Championship Course, Kelso Golf Course (and Race Course, are at the end of the farm road!) The Hirsel Course and Country Park are 8 miles away, at Coldstream. Whether you would like to walk or ride this land of rivers and hills; stroll through gardens such as Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, or Kailzie by Peebles, where Osprey are shown live on web-cam; feel the history of castles, abbeys and great houses: have a day in Edinburgh, cycle quiet roads or hurtle down the mountain bike runs at Glentress, you'll certainly feel the glow! From the stunning coast, St Abbs Head, Lindisfarne, The Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle, to the Border Hills, the space, light and views will take your breath away! On a creative note - many talented "craftsmen" working with cashmere, wool, wood, glass, clay, metal, pencil and paint have found inspiration here. Over 80 local craft workshops, galleries and exhibitions welcome you. Then you can return to the warmth and comfort of Hendersyde, a genuine home from home!
