This exceptional cottage nestles in the charming village of Thwaite in the heart of Swaledale, the most northerly of Yorkshire’s major dales. Greystones was probably built in the 1700's and has been owned and cherished by the same family for generations. Shirley and Peter Coates have renovated it fully and with care to offer outstanding holiday accommodation, whilst retaining the character and integrity of the cottage that Shirley grew up with. The cottage offers superb accommodation with beamed ceilings, an open fire, traditional stone flagged stairs and a cobbled back yard, leads to the secluded walled garden which gives stunning views up Swaledale across the finest traditional hay meadows in the Dales. The meadows are now protected and in Spring and Summer are a riot of colour and full of wild flowers and grasses, as can be seen from the photograph of the garden above with the meadows beyond. The Accommodation You enter the cottage through the front porch which leads into the cosy living room with beamed ceilings, an open fire, and a comfortable 3 piece suite. From this you enter the beautifully fitted and well equipped farmhouse style dining kitchen, with a further door leading to the utility room. This gives plenty of room for boot and coat storage, and a door from the utility room leads into the traditional and sheltered back yard. The walled garden leads directly off this, complete with garden furniture, and soaring views across the hay meadows and up the valley, dotted with the stone field barns and strung with the dry stone walls that are such a feature of the Yorkshire Dales and of Upper Swaledale in particular. Back in the kitchen a further door leads you up the stone flagged staircase to the 3 bedrooms and bathroom. All of the rooms are spacious, and reveal further wonderful views from all of the windows. You step down into the spacious family bathroom with beamed ceiling. Across from the bathroom is the twin bedroom with built in wardrobes, and next to this is the large double room with an antique style wrought iron and brass bed head, window seat and ample wardrobe and drawer space. Along from this room is the cosy single room with its pine bed and beamed ceiling.
