The village is located 1 mile north of the A684 midway between Bedale and Leyburn. Within walking distance of the cottage is a general store/post office. The village has a green which has a play area for children, consequently dogs are not allowed to be exercised on the green. An extensive collection of literature is provided including maps and details of walks within the Yorkshire Dales. There is a small enclosed private garden with garden furniture and barbeque.
