Blackburn Farm is located in Hawes, which is part of the Yorkshire Dales. The farm is a working upper dales farm of 200 acres, home to 200 sheep and 20 cows, providing both bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation. An earthwork on the farm has been excavated to reveal a bronze age farming enclosure. A footpath follows Blackburn Syke leading past an array of old farm implements, a long disused lime-kiln and laithe (barn) until all sight of cultivation is lost. Here a Roman road sweeps down the fell to the village of Bainbridge. Three minutes walk takes you to the hamlet of Gayle. Cottages built from locally quarried stone huddle around Duerley Beck. A field walk takes you to Aisgill Falls, especially worth seeing when the beck is full. Following a flagged footpath from Gayle to St Margaret's church you are soon in the centre of the busy market town of Hawes. Visitor attractions abound with the Wensleydale Creamery where you may view the cheese making, the Rope Works and the Dales Countryside Museum which covers the whole spectrum of life in the dales. There are a full range of shops, 4 pubs and several cafes. High Season Low Season Closed at Christmas, Closed at New Year Double en suite For More InformationVisit Property's Website |
