Fowl Green Farm is a traditional hill sheep farm set on a South-facing slope, close to the village. Four 18th century rough stone pigsties and barn have been converted to holiday accommodation which combine many original features with 21st century comfort. The cottages are accessible to all, having one ground floor bedroom, adapted bath/shower facilities and outside patio, barbeques and garden areas. Accessible footpaths and picnic sites across the farmland take the visitor through woodlands, wild flower meadows and alongside streams.
High Season Low Season Open All Year, Open at Christmas, Open at New Year Cottage: Pigsty 2 Pigsties: sleeps 2 and 4 These were four small pigsties which were also used for weaning calves. They have rough stone walls and large stone troughs which form the base of the front wall. The feed could be poured in from the outside and the pigs or calves could eat from the trough inside without the door needing to be opened. This was extremely useful since small hungry animals invariably used to barge into whoever was feeding them and knock over the buckets of food. We have left the troughs but closed the gap to the outside to stop the drafts. However, it is possible to come and stay at Fowl Green Farm and eat and sleep in the pigsties. They are two small studio apartments with a mezzanine.
