This is a newly renovated self-catering maisonette on the other side of the ¾ acre property to Holly Cottage. It is ideal for two people (it has been called “a love-nest for two”), but a comfortable sofa-bed in the living room can accommodate two more. Popular for short breaks. The Garden Studio has a similar idyllic setting to Holly Cottage – by the stream, at the edge of the unspoilt the garden and off-road parking space for one car. Wellow is a small community that values an old-world, informal environment with no street lighting. There is trail horse riding and ponies for children. St. Julians is a fine 14th century church. The Fox & Badger offers good bar meals (occasional quizzes/bowls). The village shop has good wines, cheeses and local fare. Wellow is off the main roads, a tranquil haven, well placed for easy access to Bath, Bristol and the surrounding beautiful countryside. Bath is a world-renowned spa town, with Roman baths, a fine abbey, Georgian architecture, Regency crescents and squares, museums, art galleries, antique shops, theatres and international music, literature and fringe festivals. Shopping is excellent, with unusual shops and a farmers' market and excellent restaurants. All of this is walkable within a square mile in the centre of the city, served by a convenient 'park & ride' 2½ miles from Wellow. Bus service from Wellow to Bath. The area offers opportunities for walks or picnics by stream or wood and is good for bird watching and cycling. You can see small deer and occasionally a badger, buzzards and herons. Horseback riding is available at the nearby Wellow Stables and a mile walk takes you to the 5,500 year-old Stoney Littleton megalithic long-barrow, one of the best preserved in the country. For children there are safe paddling in the stream, playing "Pooh Sticks" from the bridge and an adventure playground in Bath. The river Avon offers boat trips and the Kennet & Avon Canal is easy for level walking or cycling through varied countryside. Wellow is a good centre for exploring the region. To the south are Wells (fine cathedral town) - 30 minutes drive; Glastonbury (medieval abbey & Tor) - 45 mins.; Mendips & Cheddar (gorge and famous caves) - 30 mins.; Quantock Hills & Exmoor - 60 mins.; Devon Coast - 60 mins. For More InformationVisit Property's WebsiteSpecial Features
