A very warm welcome to our holiday cottages from the Mitchell family at Great House Barns in the village of North Newton in Somerset. We are about 6 miles from Bridgwater and about 8 miles from Taunton and our cottages provide an excellent base from which to tour the whole of Somerset. Our two self-catering holiday cottages "Swallow Barn" and "Heron Barn", were converted in the Summer of 2005 and provide an excellent standard of comfort and convenience. The stone and cob built barns date back to the 16th-Century, and, apparently, at one stage were used by Judge Jeffries to hold prisoners before trial in Somerset. We trust that you will find us more accommodating than that! Our unique property is set in 2 acres of its own land and surrounded by open countryside and farmland. We are situated on the edge of the village, with access to all transport links, a beautiful coastline and a number of popular tourist attractions.Swallow Barn is a two person cottage with lounge/diner and kitchenette, one double bedroom and bathroom. Outside there is a private patio area with table chairs and B-B-Q. It is a single storey cottage and therefore ideal for those with walking difficulties.Heron Barn sleeps 2 to 4 people. It has a large open plan lounge/diner and kitchen area. Up the spiral staircase you will find one double bedroom and a bathroom. A double bed settee is provided for use in the large lounge for 4 person occupancy. Outside there is a small decked seating area with table chairs and B-B-Q.We are situated on the edge of the Somerset Levels with its battles and myths surrounding King Alfred. Around us are the Quantock, Polden and Brendan hills fantastic for walkers and watchers of the wild horses and deer. The sandy beaches of Burnham are within 30mins drive as are the pebble beaches near Kilve and East Quantoxhead en route to more sand at Minehead.Nearby attractions include the Br High Season Low Season Open at Christmas, Open at New Year Cottage For More InformationVisit Property's Website |
