The Malt House, in the hamlet of Exton, is in the heart of Exmoor National Park.
The stylishly but simply modernised cottage, with accommodation all on the ground floor and previously part of the old village inn, forms one side of a small cobbled courtyard opposite the owner’s house. The large living/dining room with open plan kitchen has overhead beams, a huge inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove and plentiful supply of free logs to complement the central heating. The kitchen is well equipped. The cottage sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms: one twin and one double with king sized bed. Both have garden views. The bathroom with bath shower completes the inside accommodation- outside is a small and sunny private garden with lovely views across the Exe valley. Bauzzards fly frequently overhead and the famous red deer of Exmoor can often be seen from the garden.
Open moorland, the idyllic river Exe, flowers, wildlife, birds and history are on the doorstep. The picturesque village of Winsford is two miles away and Dulverton, the administrative centre of the National Park, five miles away.
The spectacular North Devon coast, with cliff walks, rocks & sandy beaches, are within easy reach as is Wimbleball Lake for sailing or fishing. Horse riding is available locally.
Walk direct from the cottage, explore Emoor and the coast or just relax and enjoy the view across the Exe Valley from the sunny private garden, once the village pound.
