Postlip is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. This attractive cottage is made from Cotswold stone and was converted from an 18th century barn. The design was inspired by the "Arts and Crafts Movement" that established itself in the Cotswolds toward the end of the 19th century. The result is an array of stone mullioned windows, leaded lights, exposed beams and period furnishings.Quietly located along a private drive on the leeward side of the Cotswold’s highest hill, the cottage is a few minutes from Winchcombe, well known for its Saxon heritage and in more recent times as a classic Cotswold "wool" town with the accompanying excellent shops and restaurants.Downstairs of Muir Cottage there is a dining hall, cloakroom, sitting room, kitchen and twin bedroom. Whilst upstairs there is one double bedroom with en-suite shower room, two single bedrooms and a bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and all the utensils needed for a comfortable stay. There is also the benefit of Sky satellite TV, a log burner, gas central heating and a telephone.Externally the cottage enjoys a southerly aspect that catches the sun all day. The yard has ample parking space for cars and bicycles, and garden furniture for lounging and eating, with the added bonus of seclusion.About 1.5 miles away is Winchcombe where the nearest shops and pubs can be found. Muir Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds. Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon are nearby as well as Hidcote Manor, Kiftsgate Court, Snowshill Manor, Sudeley Castle and other well-known places in the Cotswold. For those who enjoy walking, Muir Cottage is adjacent to the Cotswold Way, which with other long distance paths such as the Gloucestershire Way, Windrush Way, Wardens Way and Wychavon Way all converge at Winchcombe.
