This is the country of Hardy novels, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just off the Wessex Ridgeway walkers’ path, set in gentle hills and woods. The Jurassic coast, ancient abbeys and castles, wonderful gardens, lovely old towns, and even a tank museum are all within a half hour drive.
