The Cowbyre cottage is now available for guests. The cottage has been converted from an old cow barn into a three en-suite double bedroomed quality cottage. It will sleep 6 people in comfort. We are aiming to achieve the top grading of five stars for this cottage in line with the grading achieved by the Haybarton. The Cowbyre enjoys the same unspoilt views as the Haybarton and Farmhouse and all furniture and fixtures will be top of the range. We are sure it will become as popular as the Haybarton. We are now accepting bookings and the first pictures are now on this website.

This cottage has a rendered exterior and appears more modern than the Haybarton next door. However, the inside has been given the cottage touch and no expense has been spared to make it a quality cottage. The fireplace is old and all the doors have been hand-made in the village to give character and warmth. The centre of the cottage is

This main living area on the ground floor has oak french doors leading out into the car park with views over unspoiled countryside. The sitting/dining area at its widest measures approximately 13.5 ft x 19 ft. The 'open plan' traditional oak kitchen with its dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave and fridge/freezer leads from the dining/sitting area and measures about 10 ft x 8 ft. There is a wonderful sense of space created by a pitched and beamed ceiling. The latest 42" Plasma television with Sky programs will be on the wall to the side of a wood burning stove situated in an old brick fireplace.

Bedroom 3

One ground floor bedroom (with disabled access from car park) with two 3 ft twin beds and a "wet room" with toilet facilities. This bedroom (measuring almost 19 feet by over 10 feet, excluding its shower room) will lead into the main sitting/dining area.

Bedroom 2

From the sitting room there is a split level staircase. Up half a staircase to ....

Dormer bedroom with sloping eves (about 12.5 x nearly 19 feet excluding its bathroom) with 5 ft double bed and en suite shower room with toilet facilities. Lovely views over the Otter valley down towards the village. If you can't think of anything else to do, you can lie in bed and admire the view!

Bedroom 1

From the sitting area, down half a staircase to a lower ground floor

Although all the bedrooms are of a good size, this is the largest at almost 19 feet by 12.5 feet, excluding bathroom.

This large bedroom has a 6 ft x 6 ft King sized bed which is zipped together and can be split into twin beds. There is also a settee if you wish to find a quiet corner to read.

This bedroom enjoys its own en suite bathroom with bath, shower and toilet facilities.


CowByre is set in five acres of tranquil countryside with its own trout pond. There are glorious unspoiled views from all aspects and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the pretty Domesday farming village of Upottery with its thatched cottages and ancient inn.
 
Bidwell Farm is about 4 miles from the market town of Honiton which was one of the centres of the mediaeval cloth trade. It now has antique furniture and bookshops which are renowned in the South West. 
 
Explore the wilds of Dartmoor and Exmoor or the lovely Jurassic coast of Dorset and Devon all within easy driving distance.
