Collacott is set in the heart of beautiful North Devon's unspoilt countryside, near the pretty thatched village of Kings Nympton, voted "Village of the year 1999", by the "Campaign for the Preservation of Rural England". Collacott has been a small holiday complex for the past 18 years. Nestling on a southerly slope, the cottages are set around a cobbled yard and pond. Although it is off the beaten tourist track it is in easy reach of Exmoor with its wild ponies, deer and sheep, plus the rugged north coastline with its dramatic cliffs or the long sandy beaches of the west coast.

Our aim at Collacott is to provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere, whilst offering plenty to keep children and the more active holiday maker occupied. Collacott also provides a peaceful retreat for those who just want to rest and unwind. Set in 20 acres of unspoiled Devon countryside Collacott has been developed sympathetically to provide modern amenities in a traditional country setting.

Whilst retaining original features, such as wooden beams and fireplaces, the cottages are furnished to a high standard creating a cosy and comfortable cottage holiday. All beds are either 3 foot singles or 5 foot doubles and are made up ready for your arrival. Kitchens are fully equipped with dishwashers, microwaves plus all you would need in a modern kitchen.

We have tried to create a safe environment for all, especially children. The complex is set back from a quiet country lane, and is approached by a long drive. Each cottage has its own fenced and landscaped garden with a patio, lawned area, barbecue and garden furniture. The Barn has its own large paved barbecue area. Collacott is a delightful place and is enjoyed by many of our guests who return annually.

Our BHS Approved Riding School can cater for all ages and abilities on a range of well-schooled quality horses and ponies. For those who wish, we can even accommodate your own horse or pony. Claire, our resident Intermediate Instructor, is available for group or private lessons so you can learn to ride, or improve your riding skills, in the safety of our all weather arena, or hack out through the pretty Devon lanes.

The Barn  sleeps up to 12

This 160 year old 60 foot, threshing barn has been sympathetically converted to provide functional accommodation whilst at the same time maintaining the warmth and character of its original state. It sleeps up to 12 in 4 bedrooms.

Downstairs:

The accommodation comprises of a fine, central, open plan living room 30x20 foot, with a wealth of exposed oak beams and a lofty ceiling, which contains lounge and dining areas and a very well equipped kitchen. The kitchen has two full size gas cookers, a fridge/freezer, microwave and full sized dishwasher.

The living room is centrally heated plus has the benefit of a gas log effect fire, a large colour TV and video and a piano.

Off the living room at one end, at ground level are a shower room with two hand basins and a bathroom, with shower over the bath and, again, two hand basins.

Upstairs:

To one end of the Barn is a wooden staircase leading to two family rooms each consisting of one set of 3 foot twin beds, and one set of 3 foot bunk beds. At the other end of the Barn, again reached by its own wooden staircase, are two twin rooms with 3 foot beds. The beds are made up with duvets and matching covers throughout.

The whole Barn is centrally heated and carpeted throughout. It has its own patio barbecue area (although not adjacent to the Barn). The Barn is ideal for those family get togethers, reunions or two family holidays.
