Situated in an unspoilt wooded valley running down from the hills of Staddon Heights the grounds open onto a safe sandy beach facing Plymouth Breakwater and the Cornish coast, yet is only six miles from Plymouth City Centre.
This charming country house was for many years the home to Joseph Whidbey, the Superintendent Engineer of the great Plymouth Breakwater.
The Bovisand Lodge Estate comprises of the Country House, home to the current owners and three Heritage Apartments, all set within a small select Beachside Holiday Park. All guests have use of the magnificent indoor heated swimming pool and surrounding grounds.
Bovisand is set in a quiet, secluded location adjacent to the coastal path where you can relax and enjoy easy walks with breathtaking views or play golf at the nearby Staddon Heights course.

The stylish bedrooms have an air of calm with the high vaulted beamed ceilings. The rooms, (one king size double and one with 3 ft bunk beds) have duvets with 4 star hotel quality, crisp white linen; a selection of toiletries are provided on arrival. The double sofa bed in the living room accommodates a further person. The shower room is ‘state of the art’ with under floor heating power shower, vanity units, shaver point and a ladder style heated towel rail to pamper you with warm, snugly towels.
There are west-facing views from the individual terrace towards Plymouth Sound and the Cornish Coast; from here you can enjoy a private BBQ or sit and relax with a cool drink on the stylish garden furniture.
Access to the apartment is via a short series of low steps and is unsuitable for people with walking difficulties. We are unable to accept young children under 5 years of age or pets (official guide dogs accepted subject to availability and by prior arrangement).
