Although just 40 miles from the end of the M5 at Exeter, Higher Bowden is set in 6.5 acres in the peace of the South Hams and enjoys a secluded location on a south-facing hillside, leading down to the Blackpool Valley. The award-winning beach at Blackpool Sands is a mile away and the historic port of Dartmouth is within a fifteen-minute drive.Higher Bowden Cottages have been developed from two adjoining 17thC farms and the 13 cottages now provide a high level of comfort and amenity. This is self-catering with a difference; all the cottages have log-burning stoves in brick inglenooks, as well as electric heaters and night storage heaters. The fitted pine kitchens include fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/drier as well as a full range of other equipment. There is direct-dial telephone, radio, DVD players, remote control television (with 13 channels). Beds are new, large and comfortable; linen and towels are provided. Each cottage has its own garden/patio area (many have secure terraces) - barbecues and deck chairs are available.The cottages range in size from one to four bedrooms and are clustered at two levels of the complex - five at the lower level and eight around the courtyard, with the main amenity areas set between the two levels.
