Porthtowan is renowned for its sandy beach and during low tide it is possible to walk along the sands to Chapel Porth. You can return to Porthtowan back along the cliff path admiring the view. In the small village of Porthtowan there is a Londis mini-mart, post office, hairdresser, surf shop, restaurant, public house and brasserier. It is supplemented in the summer months by a beach shop, cafe, surf board and hire shop, ice-cream parlour and lifeguards. This is an ideal centre for visiting the many tourist attractions of Cornwall including the National Maritime Museum, the Eden Project, Newquay Zoo, St Michaels Mount and Lands End to name but a few.
