Porthleven harbour
Just a few minutes walk from the house you will find magnificent sea views, Porthleven's 3 mile beach and the historic cobbled harbour, with several gift, craft and book shops, galleries and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Local seafood is of course a speciality and if you fancy cooking your own, fresh fish can be purchased from the award winning Quayside fish or visit the bait and tackle shop for equipment to catch your own. There are three public houses in Porthleven, including The Atlantic Inn, which affords panoramic views of Mounts Bay, and has excellent home cooked food.
As you take the walk to the harbour you will enter into part of Porthleven's history. Streets lined with fisherman's cottages and net lofts. Local farms mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1085 AD. The Ship Inn was used by smugglers, and tunnels from the caves at the west of the harbour led to Methleigh Manor, these are now blocked off. The contraband was stored under the floor of the manor kitchen.
