Set in beautiful countryside near the North Cornish coast, The Parlour offers exclusive, five star accommodation in the thoughtfully converted milking parlour of a farm, formerly owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. The conversion, which was completed in 2003, retains the original architecture with a vaulted ceiling, exposed timbers and roof lights that give a light and airy feel to the spacious accommodation. Little evidence remains of The Parlour’s productive agricultural ancestry, apart from the exceptional peace of its rural surroundings. A former stable block now houses a table tennis table, the old silage pit has been transformed into a swimming pool and the cattle yards are now extensive gardens, planted and beautifully maintained since 1995 and with plenty of room for children to play. You are invited to enjoy all this and more as guests of the Hosegood family when you visit this idyllic corner of the county. The AccommodationFrom the doorway in, your accommodation has been designed with comfort and convenience in mind. A large entrance hall with slate floor has plenty of room for all holiday paraphernalia, a large cloakroom and a cupboard housing a washing machine. Equipped to the highest standard, the kitchen has top quality appliances (oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer) and plenty of storage. The light, spacious living area has dining furniture, two comfortable settees, an armchair and a wood burning stove. Entertainment and information is available from a television with Freeview box and DVD player, CD player/stereo, jigsaws, games, books and maps. The master bedroom, with luxurious king size bed, has en-suite bathroom facilities with a walk-in shower. The restful twin and single bedrooms share a bathroom, which has a bath with a shower over, toilet and basin. Outside is a safely enclosed patio area with table and chairs and a gas barbecue. This is accessible by doors from the living area and the twin bedroom. There is also a further lawned orchard area with a washing line. All linen and towels are provided, as is an iron, hair dryer and hot water bottles! A cot and highchair are available on request. Heating, electricity, gas for the barbecue and a basket of logs are all included in the price. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Visitors are asked not to smoke in The Parlour. The accommodation is entirely accessible and suitable for wheelchair users. If you have any special requirements, please ask, as we will do our best to arrange whatever you need. There is plenty of parking space and lots of room for children to play. The solar-heated swimming pool is usually available from the end of May until September (depending on the weather) and there is table tennis. Local produce is readily available from the farm shop at St Kew Golf Course and Trevathan Strawberry Farm (both less than a mile and a half away), the farmers’ market in Wadebridge and a range of shops including good quality butchers, greengrocers and bakeries. There are also two supermarkets nearby and a host of art, craft and gift shops. For eating out, there is a wide choice of local pubs, beach cafés and restaurants in the area, all serving good quality meals. For special occasions or just to spoil yourselves there are two Michelin Star restaurants and Rick Stein's restaurant all within easy travelling distance. A variety of water-sports and fishing trips are available locally – the closest being at Rock, which is also just a short ferry trip from the lively harbour town of Padstow. Heading inland, the Camel Estuary is a perfect spot for bird watchers, walkers and cyclists of all abilities with the Camel Trail following the river for 26 miles from Padstow to Bodmin via Wadebridge. Golfers are spoilt for choice with three first class 18-hole courses within easy travelling distance and an excellent, pay-as-you-play 9-hole course with a driving range just up the road. There are a number of historic properties to visit: the National Trust’s Lanhydrock House is nearby, as is the privately owned Pencarrow House, which also hosts an annual ‘Jazz in the Garden’ event. Cornwall’s mild climate means that gardens are a speciality of the county and there are many beautiful ones to see. Of course, for the ultimate botanical experience there is also the Eden Project, which is less than an hour’s drive away. There is something to suit everyone here and we are always happy to help you get the best from your visit. For More InformationVisit Property's WebsiteSpecial Features
