Bookers Holiday Cottage, set in its own apple orchard, was built in the 19th century in traditional mellow Cotswold stone, and is roofed in lichen-covered Stonefield mellow slates.

The front door opens into a large peaceful drawing-room - buff walls, pale blue-and-white striped Nina Campbell curtains, a huge cream buttoned three-seater chesterfield, and a 4' square buttoned hassock in pale blue on the rosy Turkey rug in front of the fire.

A Victorian armchair is covered in Bennison Roses linen union, and a smaller sofa in a coffee-and-cream Colefax Fowler fabric.

There's a club fender in front of the fire, and on the left of the stone fireplace is a large circular table whose blue-and-buff John Stefanides cloth conceals the TV. A blue-and-buff dresser holds a cornucopia of blue-and-white china. To the right is a desk and telephone, and a comfortable desk chair upholstered in green Lelievre velvet. In one corner, a bookcase, table and French chairs create a quiet corner for those who want to read, do jigsaws or play cards.

The large kitchen/dining-room has yellow walls, white painted kitchen units, farmhouse tiled terracotta floor, and indigo-and-white printed curtains and blinds. Double French doors lead to terrace and garden.

The dining area is bright and fresh with a circular pine table covered in a blue-and-white checked floor-length cloth matching the chair cushions. There's a pine dresser packed with Welsh Gaudy china, and a pine corner cabinet full of blue-and-white porcelain.
The kitchen has blue-and-white Delft tiles and brown granite worktops. There's a large white porcelain butler's sink with a waste disposal, and butcher's block trolley. Opening off it is a utility room and a downstairs lavatory.

The upstairs master bedroom, which faces south over the orchard to the Abbey, is all cream-and-rose toile de jouy - on the king-size mahogany four-poster, on curtains lining the panels of the built-in wardrobe, and upholstering the curly padded ottoman and 19th century Louis-style fauteuil. To match this fauteuil, the little bureau and all the woodwork are also painted in the grey-green known as 'gris de chateau', echoed in the ensuite bathroom by the tiles.

One of the two twin-bedded rooms has buff walls, blue headboards and soft blue-and-white patchwork bedspreads. The big dressing table is covered in blue-and-white striped cotton to match the cloth on the semi-circular table between the beds.
The other twin bedroom is painted warm cerulean blue. Everything else is white - lace-edged curtains, bedspreads, chairs, and voile bed hangings falling from gilded coronas. Between the two wardrobes are an antique table, and a black-and-gold mirror.

Cots, high chairs and stairgates can be supplied. Cleaning equipment, towels and linen are included: guests can ask for backboards, and choose duvets or blankets (non-allergenic if preferred).

There's a wonderfully generous welcome basket provided at our self catering cottages with cheese, butter, milk, tea, coffee, cereal, eggs, chocolate, a bottle of wine, and homemade bread, jam, cakes and biscuits.
