The Old Bakehouse, is situated on the edge of the Victorian part of Abingdon-upon-Thames, The Old Bakehouse is a self contained two bedroom cottage attached to our own house.
History
It was built in 1862 as a bakery with the ground floor containing the the brick ovens and bakery while the grain was stored above. When we moved in the old ovens had rusted away and the area where the baker kneaded the dough was used as a garage. However, the main structure was in good repair so we turned it in to living accommodation.
The Property
On the ground floor is a lounge diner with open log fire (to complement the central heating),along with the kitchen area. The stairs to the second floor leads you to the double bedroom, twin bedroom and bathroom.
There is a small but very pretty patio where you can make use of the table chairs and barbecue. There is also a small pond, so take care with small children.
