Tom’s Lodge is situated on a small working farm in the quiet hamlet of Fairhazel in Piltdown, East Sussex and is 2 miles from the local amenities of Uckfield.Piltdown is a small village made famous by the ‘Piltdown Man Hoax’ with its equally famous 18-hole golf course that is within walking distance of the lodge, as is Piltdown Pond if you fancy doing a spot of fishing. The golf course and surrounding areas are criss-crossed by public footpaths which would be ideal for walkers. If you’re looking for a golfing holiday, East Sussex National Golf Club (4 miles), Paxhill Golf Club (8 miles) and there are six other golf courses within a half hour’s drive. If you’re feeling peckish, the local pub 'The Peacock Inn' is 400yds away where you can enjoy superb bar meals during the day and an a la carte menu in the evenings in a typical country setting.Uckfield has a main line station to London Bridge (90 mins) or only 45 mins to Victoria from Haywards Heath (12 miles) and a bus station/taxi rank. It has 2 supermarkets, leisure centre, swimming pool, cinema with 3 screens to show all the up to date film releases, over 20 eating establishments, two local riding schools, health club, various boutiques and quality gift shops. Lewes, the County Town of Sussex for its history (8 miles) and Royal Tunbridge Wells (12 miles) and for the beach and shopping, Brighton (16 miles) and Eastbourne (18 miles).
