The village is 1 mile away with its village green, post office and general stores. It has a choice of restaurants plus pub/restaurants. Within 3 miles from the Lodge is the village of Fletchling, famous for its charm and pub/restaurants.There are many walks to be taken from the Lodge (some mapped out with varying distances). Why not take a walk in the forest and land up with a superb cream tea at Duddleswell? Or see the forest on horseback (for hire locally).Within a 30-minute drive you have the spectacular coast of Sussex with its rolling downlands. Other places to visit include Eastbourne, Beachy Head, The Seven Sisters, 1066 country Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea. Brighton with its Dome and Pavilion is nearby, as is the historic Lewes Castle and Ann of Cleave’s house. Glynbourne Opera House is close, nestling in the Downs.The houses and gardens of The National Trust and Sheffield Park and Standen are a 10 minute drive away. Bateman’s, Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle, Wakehurst Place, Hever Castle, Ronshurst Place, The Blue Bell Railway and Pooh Corner are also 10 minutes away.The National Golf Course is 15 minutes drive at Uckfield and many other courses are local.There are a number of leisure centres providing swimming, gym and sport facilities.
