THE WING - was originally built as a cow-shed but was converted in 1911 to make a drawing room and library for the main house. It is very hard to do justice to it in a written description. Normally it takes people quite by surprise when they arrive ‘sight unseen’. To give an impression it covers a VERY LARGE area, the walls being pale yellow, the floors polished parquet and the ceilings domed. The whole effect is very striking with mahogany doors and an elegant fireplace. Families consisting of a married couple and three children have found the space more than adequate. The drawback is that the rooms are inter-connecting and therefore not suited to all holiday makers. The passage that used to connect these rooms to the main house has been converted into a kitchen, bathroom and WC. This has the advantage of eliminating any noise coming from the main house. The living area and garden will be a quiet and peaceful place to stay. The furnishings are attractive with ‘Laura Ashley’ style prints and comfortable chairs. Generally it has an ‘Edwardian’ atmosphere of elegance. The photo shows the approach to The Wing with the main house in the background. The private entrance and garden for The Wing are behind, to the right of the picture.

ACCOMMODATION
The Wing comprises 1 large L-shaped room 38’ x 14’ (11.6m x 4.3m). Another room 14’ x 18’ (4.3m x 5.5m), and a kitchen and bathroom. The L-shaped room has a dining area with bay windows and a living area centred around an attractive fireplace with a wood-burning stove and various furniture including 2 x 2’6 divans (76cm) with duvets and pillows which can be used as sofa beds and a 4’ double bed that folds up into the wall. There is a music centre, colour TV and radio. Also DVD and a VCR available on request.
The smaller room is furnished with a 6’ (183cm) double divan base with 2 x 3’ (91cm) single mattresses and 2’ x 3’ (91cm) duvets. The two mattresses can be joined to make a super king and I can supply fitted bottom sheet and super king duvet and duvet cover for an extra £18 – please request when booking.  The TV can also be used in this room. The front door is in this room. The kitchen is equipped with fitted units, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, electric kettle, iron, coffee machine and toaster. There are also place settings and china for 6. There is a back door from the kitchen into the garden. The bathroom has a bath, wash basin and shaver point, and also an electric-fitted shower unit with shower curtain. The WC is beyond, separated by a sliding door and is actually in what used to be the ‘priest-hole’ behind the fireplace in the main house! There is oil-fired central heating and hot water.
 
Rental INCLUDES use of our indoor heated swimming pool, sauna/jacuzzi.
 There is also a good hard tennis court and a grass badminton court for visitors' use. Rental also includes hot water, central heating and electricity to a max. of £60.00 per week, colour TV and all the normal household equipment.

N.B. For large parties taking The Wing and another cottage we can provide an extra table matching The Wing table and another 6 chairs - so 12 people can be seated. 12 place settings and china available. Glasses if required.
