A warm welcome is given at the Shepherds Barn which is on the farm of the internationally acclaimed sheepdog handler Thomas Longton, most publicly recognised for winning the Supreme Championship and the title of One Man and his Dog, the opening sequences of the popular TV programme was filmed at Thomas and Anne’s farm in the beautiful Forest of Bowland. The Shepherds Barn is over 100 years old and the recent renovation boasts an extremely high level of comfort and a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen including a traditional Aga oven. The three large bedrooms, which are king, double and twin all have a large fireplace and real flame fires, two bedrooms have walk in wardrobes and each room has a large luxury bathroom including bath and shower. The clever blend of contemporary open plan design and traditional architectural features of the old barn offer a high level of luxury and comfort. Also the added history and tradition of the Longton family’s art of sheepdog handling tastefully echoes around the barn. Lee End Farm is situated 3 miles from the historic town of Lancaster with its castle. Cathedral and quayside port, it is at the gateway of the Forest of Bowland and 30 minutes from the Lake District. The village of Quernmore is set in undeniably beautiful countryside, from the slopes you can see for miles over the Bay of Morecambe and across the Irish Sea, the breathtaking views are accessible by all. Pony trekking and a municipal golf course are 2 miles away from the Barn and the River Conder wends its way through the farm fields of Lee End which fishing rights belong to the Longtons.
