The Tranquil Otter is a peaceful off the beaten track beauty spot with seven lakeshore lodges, each with their own waterside decking and rowing boat.

The Tranquil Otter is an ideal choice for a "forget the world" kind of holiday with past visitors falling for the idyllic setting, the wonderful nature with the peace and quiet. It also makes an ideal location for exploring the Lake District, historic Carlisle and the Settle to Carlisle railway, Southern Scotland (especially Dumfries and Galloway), Hadrians Wall, the Eden Valley and the Solway Firth. 

The 20 acre lake forms the heart of The Tranquil Otter private nature reserve and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna including otters, swans, kingfishers and numerous species of ducks. Surrounding the lake is private woodland that has pathways around the perimeter giving access to a wetland board walk and a bird screen and hide. Observant walkers stand a good chance of seeing red squirrels, deer, woodpeckers, owls and a wide variety of the many other animals & bird life.

5 Five Star Luxury Lodges

All luxury lodges are spacious and have an en-suite master bedroom, a logburning stove and a dishwasher. They have solid oak floors and are furnished to a very high standard. Lodge 7 has three bedrooms, lodges 3 and 4 have two bedrooms and lodges 5 and 6 have 1 bedroom. Outside the Luxury Lodges have a sizable area of decking with quality furniture, a BBQ and their own boat. Lodges 3, 5 and 6 have outside hot tubs whilst the others have a sauna and whirlpool bath. All luxury lodges have DVD and Video player and have a free view set top box. Lodge 6 has a cinema surround system with 26" LCD TV.

The luxury lodges all enjoy a lakeside position with superb lake views.

2 Four Star Cosy Lodges

The 4 star Cosy Lodges are all situated at the water's edge and enjoy superb views. The lodges have two bedrooms (a double and a twin), a lounge with dining kitchen and a shower room with a powerful shower.

To the lakeside they have decking with quality garden furniture, their own rowing boat and a stand for a disposable BBQ. They are centrally heated and well equipped with TV, video, oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The master bedrooms have spectacular lake views.

Things To Do

The Tranquil Otter is an ideal place to indulge yourself in relaxing pastimes such as fly fishing, rowing, reading, painting, photography, bird watching and nature walks to name but a few. It also makes an excellent base for exploring the local area which includes the Solway Firth, the Northern Lake District, the Eden Valley, Hadrian's Wall, historic Carlisle, the Settle to Carlisle railway and parts of Northumbria and Southern Scotland.

For the more energetic there the private paths around the lake, rowing, cycling and sailing (bikes and sailing dingy available to hire).There is also superb walking in the nearby Northern Lakes and other areas locally. Richard and Wendy would also be delighted to help you plan your stay.
