Patio doors lead on to the spacious , furnished veranda with incredible views of the surrounding countryside. Artlegarth is bounded by dry stone walls, fringed on one side by a screen of trees, with driveways and ample parking.  An ornamental pond frequently visited by Heron and wild ducks .A charming stream flows through our small wood. There is a small children’s play area overlooking the sheep grazing in the field.

 The fells and footpaths that surround Artlegarth lodges are a paradise for walking and cycling, whether your idea of a good walk is a brisk mountain climb or a meander along a gentle valley. Walkers can access the hills direct from Artlegarth. The Howgills offer unrivalled walking with spectacular views in an uncrowded area

At hand walking, golf, riding, fishing, Miles and miles of fell and dales plus gently undulating country lanes await you. Buzzards, curlews, woodpeckers and the Red-squirrel are but just a few of the species regularly sighted at Artlegarth.

 The Settle-Carlisle railway, reputedly the most attractive line in the UK, winding its way through some of the finest scenery in Britain, is just 2 miles away from the village. Ravenstonedale is an ideal place from which to explore the line. There is no ticket office at Kirkby Stephen but tickets can be purchased on the train.
