The North Pennines is a relatively unknown area, but the scenery is fantastic. The Rock House Estate is about 100 acres between Alston & Nenthead.

This is an area for outdoor activities - you can put on your walking boots and walk from the cottage! but there are also lots of places to visit. When you are out and about there are plenty of places to eat ranging from cafes & pubs to excellent restaurants.

We have 5 country cottages ranging from a cosy cottage for 2 up to a farmhouse for 14. For full details about a cottage, just click on the appropriate part of the picture below!

We have lots of options for large groups and can accommodate up to 34 (+ 3 cots, + folding bed suitable for a child)

Stag and Hen parties are not banned - if you want to party & get drunk, hop on a plane to Prague! (the booze is very cheap and the flight is not dear). This is the place to come if you want to have an active weekend. We charge a refundable bond in case there is any damage.

Surprise parties can be arranged - we can email or phone you at work etc. When people arrive we can hide their cars out of sight. We are very good at white lies about why the two of you have such a large cottage!

For large groups (about 14) we have two options:

Rock House Farm sleeps up to 14 and has a dining table that seats 14 (+3 high chairs)
(Sunrise is nearby (100 yards) and can sleep another 4 (+cot + folding bed suitable for a child) )
or
Nentside Barn and Rambler Rest - each cottage sleeps up to 7, & Nentside Barn has a table that can be extended to seat 14
(Writers cottage is alongside and can sleep another 2 (+cot) )

For really large groups (up to 34), all 5 cottages can accommodate up to 34. The limitation is that the largest table only seats 14. Very large groups have got around this by having a meal out, or feeding the children first, then the adults, or having a BBQ, or having a buffet meal.
