For those who prefer to shoot with a camera, a range of specialist guided wildlife tours can be organised. Depending on the season and the weather conditions, deer, hare, red squirrel, buzzard, badger, otter and even golden eagles can be spotted. There are golf courses at Penrith, Appleby, Keswick and Carlisle. Whale Farm Cottage is situated in the beautiful, tranquil hamlet of Whale, eight miles south of Penrith, 25 miles from Carlisle and within easy access of the M6. Ideally located for walkers, there are leisurely walks through the Estate's parkland, woodland and along the river and access to some of the Lake District's most outstanding high fells. Much of the estate's land is leased to the National Trust including the famous Langdale Mountains. The nearest shop is the post office three miles away in Askham. The Cottage: Ground floor consists of entrance hall, flagstoned cloakroom and boot/bicycle/coat store. The conservatory kitchen is superbly and fully equipped with cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer. French doors open onto the flagstoned terrace and large walled garden with BBQ and garden furniture. The large open-plan drawing room, beautifully furnished with antique prints and furnishings, as well as TV/DVD/Video, hi-fi and telephone/fax, also incorporates a circular dining table for up to 8 people. Large shower room. First floor provides four poster master bedroom, twin bedroom and traditional bathroom with cast iron bath.
