Traditional 19th century semi detached cottage on edge of the Lake District National Park with far reaching views of the Lake District fells and Langdale Pikes in the distance.

The cottage is approached down a private drive a fields distance from the road making it quiet and secluded yet it is only 1 1/2 miles north of the mediaeval market town of Kendal, known as Gateway to the Lakes. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring Windermere (8 miles), Ambleside and the central lakes - the Lake District National Park is an area of outstanding beauty, one quarter of which is owned by the National Trust. Lake Windermere at 10 1/2 miles is the longest of the 16 lakes.

Beatrix Potter, who wrote and illustrated childrens books lived in Hawkshead, near Windermere, and the poet William Wordsworth lived in Grasmere. The valleys of Longsleddale and Kentmere are only 4 miles away offering dramatic scenery, good walking and birdwatching - buzzards are often seen circling the hills opposite the cottage. Ten miles east takes you to Sedbergh and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Accommodation comprises of Entrance Porch into Hallway with downstairs WC. Fully fitted kitchen with dining area with good sized table and four chairs. Large sitting room with open fire and antique broadwood cottage piano. Upstairs, one bedroom with double bed and one bedroom with single bed and washbasin. There are views over open countryside from both the bedrooms.Family bathroom with bath, shower and WC. The cottage benefits from a private and mature garden with views over open countryside to the Lake District fells and Langdale Pikes in the distance. There is a tarmac hardstanding with ample parking for 2/3 cars. There is a solid wooden garden table, four chairs and a parasol.

All weeks are reasonably priced as this is our first year and we simply wish to let the weeks!

NOTE: LATE AVAILABILITY - JULY 7th-14th £240 including electricity, heating, water, coal for the open fire and bedlinen. Beds are made up for you. Bring your own towels and teatowels.
