An 18thC character cottage in the northern fells of the National Park. Walking distance to local amenities with good walks from the door. This cottage, in the quiet, pretty village of Hesket Newmarket was once a Temperance Meeting Hall. It was converted for residential use and became our holiday home in 1986. The village is about twelve miles north of Keswick. The cottage sleeps six adults in three bedrooms, 1 double and 2 twin bedrooms and is heated throughout. There is a bathroom and a shower room., large living room, sitting room and kitchen breakfast room. Hesket Newmarket is set around the village green and the Temperance Hall lies at the top of the village street. Close by is Fellside Stores which has a Post Office and sells general provisions, including home-cooked food. There is a telephone box outside the shop and the “Fell-Idle” Tea-Room is next door. The Old Crown, the popular village pub, offers many special beers from the Hesket Newmarket independent brewery. Meals are available at the pub and in the village guest house. The neighbouring village of Caldbeck, just a mile down the road, has a pub with restaurant facilities and Priest’s Mill offers really good vegetarian food. The villages of Uldale, Mungrisedale and Welton also have good eating places within easy reach of the cottage. A variety of routes from the cottage make most parts of the Lake District readily accessible, with Keswick only twenty minutes away. The Solway Firth can be seen from the hills above the village with the mountains of Dumfries beyond, and to the east lies the beautiful Eden valley and the Pennines. The historic border city of Carlisle with its castle, museums and excellent shops is only twelve miles away For More InformationVisit Property's WebsiteSpecial Features
